There’s something powerful about experimenting freely in a sketchbook — no pressure, just curiosity and wonder. One of my latest creations came from a moment like that. I sketched a dreamy girl with deep, black-as-night hair, and inside that darkness… blooming flowers began to grow.
Her hair became a midnight garden — painted entirely in solid black with an alcohol marker, untouched by light or detail. Then, right over that shadowy canvas, I painted flowers in pinks and yellows. They bloomed softly, like hope growing in the dark.
Around her, I created a halo — a gentle hail of golden dots made with gold leaf. I first applied the gold size in tiny, careful touches, then pressed delicate sheets of gold leaf over them. The effect is otherworldly: soft glimmers of gold shining against the black, like stars in a quiet night.
This piece is special to me — a true mix of materials and emotion. I used alcohol markers for the base, then brought the face to life with colored pencils, layering details until she began to breathe through the page.
It’s a sketchbook experiment that turned into something I want to share — not just as a painting, but as a product too. I can imagine her as a dreamy art print, a shiny sticker, or even a fridge magnet that catches the light and reminds you that beauty can bloom in the darkest places.
