From 27 September to 10 October 2025, two paintings from my Egyptian Dolls series were selected for exhibition in the XXVIII José Prat Painting and Drawing Competition, held at the Centro Cultural Pérez de la Riva in Las Rozas, Madrid.
There are moments in an artist’s journey that quietly become milestones—not because of a prize, but because they mark a step forward in sharing one’s vision with others. Participating in this exhibition was one of those moments for me.
For this exhibition, I presented two paintings from my ongoing series, Egyptian Dolls, a collection that celebrates the beauty, resilience, and timeless spirit of Egyptian women. Each painting is inspired by the rich visual language of Ancient Egypt while embracing a contemporary, dreamlike style that has become an essential part of my artistic voice.
The Egyptian Dolls series was born from a desire to reconnect with my roots. Growing up in Egypt and now living in Spain, I often find myself reflecting on the stories, symbols, and traditions that shaped me. Through these paintings, I weave together elements of history, folklore, nature, and imagination, creating characters that exist somewhere between memory and dream.
The exhibition offered a wonderful opportunity to place these works in conversation with artists working in many different styles and techniques. It is always inspiring to see how each artist approaches the creative process, and it reminds me that art is a language with countless dialects, each carrying its own emotions and perspectives.
Sharing Egyptian Dolls with visitors was especially meaningful. Every exhibition allows a painting to begin a new life beyond the studio, where viewers bring their own memories, interpretations, and emotions to the work. I always hope that my paintings invite people to slow down, discover the small details, and perhaps feel a sense of wonder or curiosity about Egypt’s rich cultural heritage.
Looking back, I am grateful to have been part of the XXVIII José Prat Painting and Drawing Competition. Experiences like these encourage me to continue exploring new ideas while remaining faithful to the themes that inspire me most: identity, history, femininity, and the quiet poetry found in everyday moments.
The Egyptian Dolls series continues to grow, and I look forward to sharing new paintings from this collection in future exhibitions. Every new piece is another chapter in an ongoing story—one that celebrates the enduring beauty of Egyptian culture through contemporary art.
