Ancient Egyptian history introduced me to queens such as Nefertiti, Hatshepsut and Cleopatra—women who were far more than the wives of kings. They advised, governed and, in some cases, ruled an entire kingdom.

Ancient Egypt was one of the earliest civilizations in which women could hold remarkable legal rights and positions of power. That legacy has always inspired me.

Whenever I paint women, I am thinking about that strength.

Not a strength that needs to be loud.

Not a strength that dominates others.

But a quiet strength that comes from knowing who you are.

The women in my paintings rarely appear to be waiting for someone to rescue them or complete them.

They already feel whole.

They often hold themselves gently, their hands resting around their bodies as if protecting something precious. To me, those gestures are symbols of self-respect, self-awareness and inner peace. They are comfortable in their own presence.

They do not need permission to exist.

They simply do.

Although my figures often appear delicate, surrounded by flowers, butterflies and soft colours, I do not see softness as the opposite of strength.

I believe tenderness can be powerful.

Gentleness can be courageous.

Beauty can carry resilience.

This is the kind of femininity that inspires me.

When I paint a woman, I imagine that she is carrying her dreams with her.

She protects them.

She nurtures them.

She refuses to let the world take them away.

Those dreams may be hopes, memories, creativity, faith or simply the quiet determination to become the person she is meant to be.

In many ways, the women in my paintings become guardians of their own inner world.

Perhaps that is why they often appear calm.

Their strength does not come from fighting everyone around them.

It comes from remaining faithful to themselves.

As an artist, I hope these women remind others—especially other women—that there is great beauty in believing in yourself.

The world often encourages us to seek validation from outside ourselves.

My paintings suggest something different.

They invite us to look inward.

To protect our dreams.

To trust our intuition.

To recognise our own worth before asking others to recognise it.

For me, every woman I paint represents far more than a portrait.

She represents resilience.

She represents hope.

She represents imagination.

She represents the quiet courage to continue dreaming, even when the world tells us to stop.

That is why I think of them as dream keepers.

Because sometimes the most important thing we can protect is not a treasure we hold in our hands, but the dreams we carry within us.

When people look at my paintings, one of the first things they notice is that they are often filled with women.
